Did anyone pass the exam today?

  2. Mamba
    February 20th, 2020

Passed today with 8xx mark. Everything is in here. Sim HSRP,VTPv3, and LACP with STP without the port-channel so had to configure it. One DnD which is Radius/Tacacs. Goodluck to all!

    Hi all friend,
I am premium member in this site but today in my exam fail. This site is not new any update, so pls be care full all member.
Lacp lab is show down interface 9 10 13 14 15 16 but I try to no shut command not working.
And then many new and old question.

@anonymous – yes it doesn’t show that it is up, I think that is normal for that Lab. What you need to verify is the trunking and the etherchannel if properly configured as Lacp and if your native vlan is properly configured as well don’t be concerned on the interface status of those ports they are just access ports as long as they are on the proper vlan and on sto portfast you should be good.

@ Mamba correct no need to see other interfaces down or up

must check ether-channel and vlans and VTP STP

    Took the exam today. Passed.

    44 questions
    3 labs
LACP with STP – no Port channel was there, so I created one and it worked out to be fine.
    VTP
HSRP – there was a confusing question regarding the decrementing of priority. Here, the interface was changed, so the default priority applies.

Few D&Ds, that too from certprepare.

Overall, the complete exam was from certprepare premium.

This was my second attempt at 300-115

    Finally CCNP Certified.

Happy to answer other people’s queries.

    I got login for it

but i checked question are jumbled little modified

example below question in exam it may ask in different ways

Which command make the port PortFast and disable EtherChannel?

    A. switchport host
    B. spanning-tree portfast
    C. ?
    D. ?

    @A-Kap

Do you recall what the DNDs were? regarding LACP with STP did you create them with the following:
    int range fa 0/3 -4 ?

    @A-KAP
    @Anyone who can help

when setting up the trunks do you set the vlans allowed/native/protocol on the TRUNKS and the PORT-CHANNEL? or just set in port-channel config? like this…

    interface range fa0/3 – 4
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk vlan native 99
    switchport trunk vlan allowed 1,21-23
    channel-group 1 mode passive
    channel-protocol lacp

    interface port-channel 1
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk vlan native 99
    switchport trunk vlan allowed 1,21-23
    no shutdown

  18. georoot
    February 20th, 2020

    @bez
you only set them on interface range
this is what I did and passed

  19. A-Kap
    February 20th, 2020

    @Bez on the Port-channel

    like this
    interface range fa0/3 – 4
    shutdown
    no switchport mode access
    no switchport access vlan 98
    channel-group 1 mode active
    channel-protocol lack
    exit

    interface port-channel 1
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk native VLAN 99
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23
    no shutdown
    exit

Question about the behavior of VLAN 1 BPDUs in a situation where the native VLAN configured as VLAN 99 and the native VLAN is tagged. (Choose two)
    A. Normal STP VLAN 1 BPDU travel across VLAN 99 untagged
    B. PVST+ VLAN 1 BPDU travel across VLAN 99 tagged
    C. Normal STP VLAN 1 BPDU travel across VLAN 1 untagged
    D. PVST+ VLAN 99 BPDU travel across VLAN 99 tagged

    I labbed this. Real hardware
with vlan dot1q tag native, all PVST+ Frames are tagged with their corresponding VLAN information

    so:
    VLAN 1 PVST+ BPDU = Tagged with VLAN1
    VLAN 10 PVST+ BPDU = Tagged with VLAN10
    VLAN 50 PVST+ BPDU = Tagged with VLAN50
    VLAN 99 PVST+ BPDU = Tagged with VLAN99

With ‘normal’ STP (IEEE frames) theres is only one STP instance. No VLANs.
IEEE frame is has no 802.1q tag
The BPDU system ID extension field is 1. This would indicate the VLAN ID in a PVST+ BPDU. but IEEE has only one instance. We can say this is a VLAN 1 BPDU. IEEE doesnt know about any other VLAN and it doesnt ever have 802.1q tag

So I think the correct answers are
    C. Normal STP VLAN 1 BPDU travel across VLAN 1 untagged
    D. PVST+ VLAN 99 BPDU travel across VLAN 99 tagged

Question-about the behavior of VLAN 1 BPDUs in a situation where the native VLAN configured as VLAN 99 and the native VLAN is tagged. (Choose two.)
    A. Normal STP VLAN 1 BPDU travel across VLAN 99 untagged
    B. PVST+ VLAN 1 BPDU travel across VLAN 99 tagged
    C. Normal STP VLAN 1 BPDU travel across VLAN 1 untagged
    D. PVST+ VLAN 99 BPDU travel across VLAN 99 tagged

    Can anyone please help?
Control traffic continues to be accepted as untagged on the native VLAN on a trunked port, even when the vlan dot1q tag native command is enabled.

    A and B ?
Alot say B and D because “when the native VLAN is tagged, all vlans will be tagged”

  22. BoxingSurfer
    February 20th, 2020

    @Switchy

See my post above. results from lab

Normal STP VLAN frame (those sent to the IEEE address 0180.C200.0000) never have tags
This is the ‘common’ spanning tree – think legacy switches here – no VLANs
This type of BPDU can never belong to any VLAN except VLAN1

Also the PVST+ BPDUs tags always match the VLAN the BPDU is for. They are never different
PVST BPDU for VLAN 1 is tagged with VLAN 1

Im sure the correct answer here is C & D

    @ A-Kap

What a ment was that the port channels should have been created with the following command:

    interface range fa0/3 – 4
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk vlan native 99
    switchport trunk vlan allowed 1,21-23
    channel-group 1 mode passive
    channel-protocol lacp

did that not work for you? So i guess you had to create the port channel like below?

    interface range fa0/3 – 4
    shutdown
    no switchport mode access
    no switchport access vlan 98
    channel-group 1 mode active
    channel-protocol lack
    exit

    interface port-channel 1
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk native VLAN 99
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23
    no shutdown
    exit

A similarly themed question. I also labbed this because there was lot of debate about whether the answer is correct or not

What does the command “vlan dot1q tag native” accomplish when configured under global configuration?
    A. All frames within the native VLAN are tagged, except when the native VLAN is set to 1.
    B. It allows control traffic to pass using the non-default VLAN.
    C. It removes the 4-byte dot1q tag from every frame that traverses the trunk interface(s).
    D. Control traffic is tagged.

simply put – D is correct control traffic is tagged.
but to be clear its not ALL tagged. It depends on the type of protocol.
for example – LACP is never tagged. its a link local type of control frame. it doesnt get forwarded

but wireshark shows that where native vlan is tagged, there all the CDP, and VTP traffic that was prviously untagged is now tagged with the VLAN ID of the native VLAN

Can people who have already taken the exam confirm if you needed to create the port channels separably as of premium site you did not need to

    switch A:

    SW-A(config)#interface range fa0/3
    SW-A(config-if)#no switchport mode access
    SW-A(config-if)#no switchport access vlan 98
    SW-A(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    SW-A(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
    SW-A(config-if)#switchport trunk native vlan 99
    SW-A(config-if)#switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,21-23
    SW-A(config-if)#channel-group 1 mode active
    SW-A(config-if)#channel-protocol lacp
    SW-A(config-if)#no shutdown

@ A-Kap what were your three labs? please confirm in detail what three are and drag and drop?

    1) LACP with stp
    2) VTPv3 sim or VTP lab
    3) HSRP Sim
