    TCP

    ======================================
    ======================================

    Drag and Drop – PVST+ / Rapid PVST+ / MSTP

    PVST

    802.1d standard
    default STP

    RapidPVST

    802.1w standard
    Discarding port state

    MST
    802.1s standard
    group vlan int instance

    Source Port:

It can be trunk or an access port
It can be monitored as a bundled logical port or as individual physical ports
Multiple VLANs can be included in a single session

    Destination Port:
It acts as the monitoring port
It is not supported as part of a VLAN
Its original configuration is overwritten by the SPAN configuration

Are these all the DND we need to study?

Hi everyone. I passed today with 9xx score. I got the usual labs/sims, LACP with STP, VTPv3, HSRP. For LACP with STP SWA didn’t accept command “switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q” but SWB accepted the command and I confirmed the trunk was created successfully with dot1q encapsulation.

For VTPv3, SW1 and SW2 were both in “Server” mode, didn’t have such thing as “Primary server” so the answer was the same provided here in Certprepare, “Configure VLAN 500 & VLAN 600 on both SW1 & SW2.”

HSRP was exactly as shown here in Certprepare.

Got 50% of the questions Rick and M.Shahin posted here, the other 50% if you study the dumps you can solve them.

For the Drag and Drop got 3 in total:

D&D 1. STP Switch Priority: “Increment of 4096” and “The lowest value is preferred”
STP Port Priority: “Increments of 16” and “Default value of 128”
STP Path cost: “Default value is based on interface speed” and “Value range from 1-200000”

D&D 2. True of RSPAN VLANs:
MAC address learning is not supported.
They can be configured only on trunk ports.
They can be configured with STP only on the source port.
They can use VLANs from 2 through 1024.

    False of RSPAN VLANs:
They are not supported with VTP.
They can be configured only on access port.
They can use VLANs from 2 through 1005.

    D&D 3. CDP:
    Uses multicast address 0100.0cc.cccc
Supports IEEE 802.2 and 802.3 encapsulation
Default time between protocol frames is 60 seconds.

    LLDP:
    Sends topology change notification
    Uses multicast address 0180.c200.000e
Default time between protocol frames is 30 seconds.

That’s it, let me know if you have any questions, I’ll be around here for 1-2 days more. See you in TSHOOT!

Hi Guys, just passed the exam today. (1/29/20)
SIMS: are the same as everyone else LACP with STP/VTPv3/HSRP
RSPAN as the Drag and Drop
just review the ones that has been shared here on the post. IP Helper Aug2019 and SWITCH OCT 2019.
you should be fine. shouldn’t take you more than a week. and of course you have to understand the concept as well.

Good Luck guys and thank you all for the help I found on this forum.

on to TSHOOT to get the full CCNP before Feb 24, 2020 :)

Oh, something I forgot to mention, in HSRP sim, they asked about port E1/0 connected to router R5 goes down instead of “If router R1 interface Etherne0/0 goes down and recovers, which of the statement regarding HSRP priority is true?” “, so the answer is “The interface will default to a priority of 100 for HSRP group 1” and NOT “The interface will have its current priority incremented by 40 for HSRP group 1”

  8. GOKUSWITCH
    January 29th, 2020

@CCNP-Switch. I didnt get any question that connects to R5 so my answer to this that was incremented by 40. but that is good to know before people just pick increment by 40 without reading the questions first.

    see you at TSHOOT

  11. Racko
    January 29th, 2020

CCNP-Switch, may I ask when you do a show running-config on R1 you see track 1 decrement 40 what does that mean? and what is the priority of the switch before it goes down ? What happens when the Switch comes back up ? what will be its position in the topology ? Perhaps I need to read the concepts of HSRP again, but I believe the recovered Switch will be incremented by 40 now its back online. What is the meaning of Preempt in the config ?

    Hi All,

I’ve been monitoring users who took CCNP Switch and it appears that the DND are randomly appearing to different users.

Most of the time the DND are as follows ( VSS and Stack , HSRP and VRRP ).
However, recently passed users are telling that they got different DND.

Radius and Tacacs+ , Span Ports and Destination , CDP and LLDP , PVST and RapidPVST and MST.

Looking at these DND, do you suggest to study all 34 Questions for DND just to be safe?

    Looking forward to your feedback.

I still cannot get a clear answer on this one

Which two statements about static MAC addresses are true? (Choose two)
    A. They are configured without an aging time.
    B. They have a default aging time of 300 seconds.
    C. They supersede dynamically learned MAC address.
    D. They can be configured on multiple interfaces in the same VLAN.
    E. They have a default aging time of 60 seconds.
    Answer: A D

    why not C???

  16. CCNP-Switch
    January 29th, 2020

@GOKUSWITCH. The same happened to me, I was just about to select the “incremented by 40” response when I realized the question mentioned Ethernet 1/0 connected to R5. When checked the sh run realized it was the same scenario described in the dump Cisco-300-115-by-IPHelper-1129q-30-07-2019:

“QUESTION 5 HINT: This question is similar to “Refer to the exhibit. If router R1 interface Etherne0/0 goes down and recovers, which of the statement regarding
HSRP priority is true?” but answer will be different according to a candidate experience.
Refer to the exhibit. If router R5 interface Etherne0/1 goes down and recovers, which of the statement regarding HSRP priority is true?
    A. The interface will have the priority decremented by 40 for HSRP group 1.
    B. The interface will have the priority decremented by 60 for HSRP group 1
    C. The interface will have its current priority incremented by 40 for HSRP group 1
    D. The interface will have its current priority incremented by 60 for HSRP group 1
    E. The interface will default to the a priority of 100 for HSRP group 1 (or priority default is 100, interface e0/1 no HSRP priority configured)
    Correct Answer: E
    Section: (none)
    Explanation
    Explanation/Reference:
From: cybernet October 22nd, 2018 (Certprepare)
I see new question for HSRP Simlet about if router interface ethernet0/0 goes down in dump to connect e0/0 R2, but in exam is ethernet 0/1 to connect R5.
    Be careful.
    – I choose priority default is 100, interface e0/1 no hsrp priority configured.”

@Proton. Study all of them except for those that say “UNOFFICIAL”. It seems that other people have gotten a different Drag & Drop questions than the ones I got. Luckily I studied them since it wasn’t that hard, for those that there are only two options, I only learned the shortest or only the easiest half, then I would knew the other options must be placed in the other side.

  18. CCNP-Switch
    January 29th, 2020

@Racko. When the interface has configured “track interface Fa0/0 state decrement 10” that means that if that link goes down, the priority of the active router (i.e. active router is 192.168.1.3 priority 85) will be decreased by 10, in this example, it would go down to 75 (85-10) and if there is any other router with higher priority, let’s say 80, it will take the active router state. If the previous router link goes up again, then the priority is restored to 85 (75+10) and if preempt is configured, the router can take the active router state again. That’s what I understood from the online forums, documentation and dumps I read. If I am not correct, please someone clarify better.
